Winter Park, FloridaEst. by early-education veteransVol. 1 · The founding years

A school built on
one observation.

The children who thrive later aren’t the ones who knew the most at five. They’re the ones who knew what to do when they were stuck. Decades in early education kept pointing to the same conclusion — so we built a school around it.

The Curiosity School sits in Winter Park, minutes from downtown Orlando. Every educator here is trained in the CAPE method before they ever lead a classroom, because the method only works if the adult in the room can resist the urge to hand over the answer.

“The hardest thing we train teachers to do is nothing — for about eight more seconds.”

We opened with infants through Pre-K. Kindergarten begins in 2026 with a founding class, and we add the next grade every year after. That isn’t an expansion plan; it’s a promise to the families who start here — the method that taught your child to think doesn’t hand them off at five.

Academics

Serious preparation, taught the long way round.

Thinking skills complement academic foundations — they never replace them. Children leave here ready for the next grade by any measure a school uses.

Literacy

Phonics, print awareness, dictation, and a lot of being read to.

02

Mathematics

Number sense, patterns, measurement — used in projects, not just worksheets.

03

Science

Observe, predict, test, record. The scientific method in child-sized form.

04

STEAM

Engineering and design challenges where art is a tool, not a decoration.

05

Social-emotional

Naming feelings, repairing conflict, waiting, sharing the good scissors.

06

Creative arts

Music, movement, drawing and making with real materials.

07

Physical development

Gross and fine motor skills, outdoor play every day, no exceptions.

08

Kindergarten readiness

Benchmarked, tracked, and shared with you — plus VPK.

Parents

What families tell us.

“He came home and explained to me why his tower fell down. He’s four. I didn’t teach him that word.”
Parent, Preschool
“Her teacher noticed she was obsessed with drains. Two weeks later the whole class was studying water. That’s the school.”
Parent, Two-year-olds
“We toured six schools. This was the only one where the children were working on something, not waiting for us to leave.”
Parent, Pre-K
“She used to ask me to fix things. Now she tries first and tells me what happened. That’s the change.”
Parent, Toddler
